DESPAIR BEYOND DESPAIR

This is a poster I did for artist Marco Rios to accompany his newest film shown at LAX ART in Culver City.
"For his project at LA><ART, Rios will continue his investigation of corporality and death, while also inquiring into the representation of artists and art in popular culture. Using Dario Argento’s 1970 film The Bird With The Crystal Plumage as a point of departure, Rios will respond to the metaphorical and literal notions of dying inside the gallery space. For this project, Rios will re-stage a scene from Argento’s film where an American writer witnesses a murder inside a gallery space and while attempting to assist the suffering victim, is trapped in the gallery’s foyer only to watch the victim bleed to death while he waits for the police. Rios will shoot a new film of this scene where he will play the murderer, the victim, the witness, and the police detective, hoping to embody all perspectives of these characters himself as he deconstructs the literal and metaphorical layers of this gruesome event."
The lithographs were printed in an edition of 50 onto Rives heavyweight paper.
